My condolences to the Biss Family, especially to Ed's sister, Emma Speidel. My mother, Mary White Flanders, was a cousin of Randall Speidel, Emma's husband. Emma kept in touch with my mother and visited her in Glens Falls over the years. Emma also let me know that someone in her family attended Lake George Elementary School where I was teaching. I did have Joe Biss as a student....small world! After my parents passed away, I lost track of Emma, but wanted her to know that I am thinking of her and the entire Biss Family at this time.

The Biss Family

So sorry to hear of the passing of the Biss matriarch. He will definitely be missed. Visiting the farm over the past 50 some years was always a joy for us. Our sons so delighted in getting a tractor ride into the fields from Ed. What a wonderful memory for them. We were always welcomed with open arms and always fed wonderful food, which was grown by them. We never could get used to the Sulphur water though, My boys had to hold their noses when they washed their face and hands. We pray that you all find peace at this difficult time. May he rest in peace. Love, Joyce and Ray

I send my sympathy to Ed's family. I started working on Ed's farm putting up hay the summer of 1984. From that time on Ed treated me like family. Ed always had sound advice for me which I often followed well into my adulthood, and still call upon even today. I will greatly miss Ed, but never forget him. I know I am truly a richer person for having known him and him having shared his love and pride of his farm and camp in Vermont with me. Rest easy Ed, you've done your part, and then-some.

Ed has been a special neighbor and friend. A real Bacon Hill original. Always enjoyed seeing the family pass by as they are tending to their fields. You would get a wave and a smile. Thinking of you all as you go thru this difficult time.

Our deepest sympathies to the family.
Ed was a dear friend. We would spend hours talking about financial planning, grafting trees and farming, amongst other topics. My kids and I have also enjoyed the blessing of Eds camp in Vermont each year . Ed got great joy each time I called to let him know we would be heading to Vermont to enjoy fishing and rest with my family. He was a true friend and will be greatly missed.
Please let us know if we can help in any way.

Ed Biss......my mother Carol Coffinger Huber shared a birthday with him and they were friends growing up...the day she died I went searching for him and found him on a big tractor in a field....I walked across meeting him....he did not recognize me...had been a few years. When I told who I was a great big smile happened on his face.....I told him my mom passed and today was her funeral. He said "I can't go to those things"......I am sorry she is gone, we had some great times! I just stopped by the farm to see him...get some advice....I could not find him. I will always have him in my heart. My condolences to his family, Rick I will stop by to see you ....I am still in Vermont.
