William "Bill" Lynch Obituary

William “Bill” Lynch, 75, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025. Born on June 30, 1949, in Rockville Center, Long Island, he was the son of the late William and Lillian (Mofitt) Lynch.  Bill was also predeceased by his sister Mary Lynch.  He is survived by his beloved niece Jennifer (Gary) Munoz, great nephew Sean, great niece Tina, three grand nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Bill graduated from SUNY New Paltz, obtained his Masters Degree from SUNY Albany, and taught in the Guilderland Central School District for many years, where he was loved by his students and colleagues. Upon his ‘non-retirement’ he embarked upon a second career as a teacher and internship coordinator for the Living Resources College Experience Program, (formerly at the College of St. Rose, now at Russell Sage College) where he continued to work and support students up until his death.  His tireless work helping students to overcome obstacles and attain their dreams brought him joy and gratitude every day, and the impact he had on students throughout his life is immeasurable.

Bill credited his 39 years sober in AA as the cornerstone of his life, which allowed him to live free of fear and to experience life to the fullest.  He made the most of every day, and loved travel, adventures, and many active pursuits.  He was an avid hiker and biker who decided on the first day of Covid closures that he would take a hike every day no matter what, a practice he continued up to the present time. In his earlier years he loved running races, tennis, handball and many other sports. Bill’s many friends, both in and out of AA, were the gift of his life and his extended family.   He was an excellent listener, and was grateful to be a sponsor to others.

Thirty-five years ago, Bill met Karen Bronson, and their love, commitment and appreciation of one another throughout those years was easy to see. From day one, Karen’s children, Brendan (Trisha) Bronson and Kate (Drew) Shave became family to him, as later did their spouses and five boys, Landon, Luke, Lawton and Leo Bronson and Michael Shave. He loved going to their games and the fun of thinking of cool things to do and fun places to go and was their grampa in every sense of the word. Their trips both around the world and close to home were a constant source of joy, fun and adventure to them both.
