William "Bill" Carhart Obituary

William (Bill) Carhart, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28,2023 at Albany Medical Center with his family by his side.

He was born on March 29, 1942 in Albany, NY, the son of the late Frederick P. Carhart and Anne J Kalinski Carhart.

Bill graduated from Albany High School after which he enlisted into the United States Army, followed by an Honorable Discharge and awarded the Army Expert Marksmanship Badge with M-14.

After his discharge from the Army, Bill went on for the next 10 years as a salesman for Morwhite, Inc, a distributor of laundry and dry-cleaning equipment. This gave him the opportunity to be the proud owner of Fashion Care of Colonie, where he worked for 35 years. Bill will always be known for his welcoming smile, excellent customer service and his ability to remove the toughest of stains. Retirement was not for Bill and he found himself taken under the wings of the Dewey family, owners of ALL-LIFTS Inc., where he worked happily through his retirement. Bill was an avid gardener, which gave him great pleasure to be able to provide fresh vegetables to his family every year. Through his years of bird watching, family snowmobiling, working, target shooting and tinkering with everything, he loved his family the most of all.

Bill is survived by his wife, Joanne (Dillon) Carhart; son, Joshua M. Carhart; daughters, Melody Carhart-Mosher, Jennifer M. Carhart; Brother, John F. Carhart; grandchildren, Colin J. Carhart, Liam W. Carhart, several nieces and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Anne J. Kalinski-Carhart; father, Frederick P.  Carhart; brothers, James P. Carhart and Paul T. Carhart.
