William E. Doyle, age 75, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at his home in Wilton in the company of his family.
He was born on March 24, 1946 in Rochester, NY, the son of the late Raymond Doyle and Margorie Kelley Doyle.
William graduated Springfield High School, outside of Philadelphia, in 1964. He met Kathi at the State University of New York at Albany; they married while still in school and graduated together in 1969. Bill joined the Army Reserve and trained at Fort Knox outside of Louisville. He then started a career with the New York State Department of Civil Service in Albany, working there for 35 years, retiring as Director of Staffing Services for the State of New York.
In his retirement years, he and Kathi provided childcare for their grandkids, and he volunteered with the National Park Service “Trails and Rails”. He belonged to several local and regional model railroading groups and a railroad historical society, and worked on the local Battenkill Railroad.
William is survived by his wife, Kathi-jean Doyle; son, Andrew Doyle (Yukiko) and their children Hiroki and Maya; son, Jonathan Doyle (RaeEllen) and their children Mackenzie and Connor; daughter, Jennifer Nichols (Erik) and their children Lily and Max; sister, Janet Mallette (George); brother-in-law, Robert Gotthelf (Judith); and many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.
A small, private funeral service will be held. Per his request, in lieu of flowers, please send donations to either the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (lls.org) or Planned Parenthood.
