Virginia Knapp Obituary

Virginia M. Knapp, age 73, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 22, 2025. She was born on September 8, 1951, in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Virginia is now reunited in Heaven with her parents, Florence Suttle and George Hibbert III; her sisters, Florence Richmond and Mary Jane Hibbert; her brother, George Hibbert IV; her grandson, Sebastian Knapp; and nephews, George Hibbert V and Tony Richmond.

She leaves behind her devoted husband of 55 years, Ralph R. Knapp Sr.; her children, Viola M. Knapp-Colmenero (Marcel), Ralph R. Knapp Jr. (Tracy), Maria A. Hall (Jamie), and Billy Grimm (Audrey). She was one of eight siblings and is survived by Helen Person (Brad, predeceased), Cathy LeMontain (Bob), Lillian Curley (John), Melody Suttle, and Ernie Suttle (Sally).

Virginia was the proud grandmother of Joshua Knapp (Elizabeth), Crystal Jipson (Jay), Mikeala Knapp, Cassidy Knapp, Korey Knapp, Ashley Flewelling (Josh), Annissa Wendell (Jeff), Nahissah Tatsey (Skyler), Levi Knapp (Alex), Tiffany Knapp (Tom), and many more beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, you were ALL her favorite. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish her memory.

For more than fifty years, Virginia was a devoted member of the Salvation Army. Known for her caring heart and loving personality, she touched the lives of many. She worked at UMI in the 1980s (before it became a car dealership), later drove school buses for the Ballston Spa School District for several years, and went on to drive for Cookie’s Cab before retiring.

Virginia had a passion for Elvis, cows, butterflies, and above all, her grandchildren—each one holding a special place in her heart. For the past three years, she resided at the Glens Falls Rehabilitation Center, where, despite her spirited ways, she was deeply loved by the staff. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to Kelly, Heather, and April for the care and kindness they provided during her stay. Special thanks are also offered to the Salvation Army for their support and service.

Virginia will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
