Thomas Sawn, Sr. Obituary

Thomas Allen Sawn Sr., age 59, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Saratoga Hospital after a long illness, with his beloved wife by his side.

He was born on March 23, 1963, in Vernon, CT the son of John Sawn Sr and Melvina (Smith) Sawn.

Thomas grew up in upstate, NY and graduated at Queensbury School.

For the last few years, he worked at BD (Becton Dickinson) in the quality control department. There he had made many friends and truly enjoyed his work alongside them all.

There was so much Thomas was grateful in his life for. His children, his wife, his family, and friends to name a few. For many years he hosted family gatherings, just as his mother used to. Thomas enjoyed so much to have his family together as often as they could be.

When the family was not getting together you could find him growing his garden, taking care of the lawn, bird watching, working with his wife on home improvement projects or tinkering on his truck. When the weather wasn’t so nice, he would be inside with company or watching the Bills play, Star Trek or Jurassic Park.

Time with Thomas was always full of laughter, as he had a great sense of humor.

Along with his parents, Thomas was predeceased by both sets of grandparents; sisters, Jane Costello and Ellen Jackowski; brothers, Peter and Daniel Sawn; nephew, Joseph Hebert; niece, Annmarie Sawn; father-in-law, Frank W. Masterson Jr.; sister-in-law, Debbie Sawn; sister-in-law, Tammy Masterson; and his beloved pets, Tilly, Mr. Biggs and Lady.

Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Dawn; three daughters, Sabrina Potter (Richard), Lisa Dominelli (Elbert) and Amanda Spickerman; his sons, Thomas Sawn Jr. (Amistad) and David Spickerman; 13 grandchildren whom he adored; mother-in-law, Janet Masterson; siblings, John Jr., Clayton, James Sawn; Sister-in-law, Elana Sawn; sister-in-law, Penny Groom (David), Heather Prohop (Jon); brother-in-law, Frank Masterson III (Janet); aunts, Jenny Staunches, Gert Shippey, Donna McCabe; uncles, Halsey (Nancy), Ed (Cathy), Bill (Dale), and Lou Smith; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, wonderful friends and his sweet kitten, Poppy.

A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY. Friends and family may call from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
