Thomas E. Burkhouse, Jr.

Thomas Burkhouse, Jr., age 83, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, October 17, 2023. He was born to Dorothy and Thomas Burkhouse, Sr. on December 10, 1939. He married his lifelong partner Donna Markle on November 1, 1959. 

Thomas was working for the Ellenville Journal when he and Donna met in 1957. He worked many different jobs throughout his life. Most notably, he worked for IBM for 27 years before retiring in 1995. Even after retirement, he continued to work various part-time jobs.

In his free-time, he enjoyed bowling, playing pool, and drum corps. When his three children were in school, their oldest Michael was a part of a drum corps. Thomas ended up becoming the director of the drum corps Michael was in because all of the kids in the corps asked for him to be director. He had a great impact on all of the people involved in that drum corps. Even though he didn’t remain a director, he was a lifelong fan of drum corps.

Thomas is remembered for always lending a helping hand to his friends and family. He was an outstanding person who helped everyone. His quick-witted humor and laugh will remain in his loved one’s hearts.

He is survived by his wife Donna; sisters Rayna and Linda; sons Neil and Michael; grandchildren Michael, Melissa, and Layla; and great-granddaughter Autumn. 

He was predeceased by his parents and his daughter Loreli.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.  Prior to the service, family and friends are welcome to visit between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
