Shirley Ann Mederski

Shirley Ann Mederski, age 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Saratoga Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.

Born on January 15, 1936, in Buffalo, New York, Shirley was the cherished daughter of the late Franklin Altrogge and Theresa Haas. She lived a life rooted in faith, family, and quiet devotion to those she loved.

Shirley’s Roman Catholic faith was central to her life. She was an active and dedicated member of her beloved St. Catherine’s of Siena while in Buffalo and then Saint Clement’s when she moved to Saratoga Springs. Shirley was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America (CDA) for over ten years.

Shirley found fellowship, purpose, and strength as a fifty-year member of the Knights of St. John Ladies’ Auxiliary. She made friendships that had lasted decades.

A devoted homemaker and caretaker, Shirley took immense pride in creating a warm and welcoming home where family and friends always felt at ease. She had a gentle, nurturing spirit and found joy in caring for others.

Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her children: her son, Ronald M. Mederski, Jr. (Rebecca); her daughters, Barbara Ann Kucharczyk (Christopher) and Catherine Ann Kleinfelder (Andrew); and her sister, Judith M. Richter. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to seven grandchildren - Sarah, Tyra, Macy, Lena, Alyia, Ezra, and Elgin - and a cherished great-grandmother to her great-granddaughter, June. She also leaves behind many dear friends who will miss her gracious spirit, kind heart, and gentle presence.

In addition to her parents and her grandson, Elliott, Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband of 44 years, Ronald M. Mederski, Sr., with whom she shared a lifetime of love and devotion.

Family and friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Avenue, Saratoga Springs, New York.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Saint Clement’s Church, 231 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs, New York.

A graveside service will follow at Clarence Fillmore Cemetery, 4580 Ransom Road, Clarence, NY 14031.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to Saint Clement’s Church, 231 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs, New York 12866.
