Shirley Armstrong

Shirley Armstrong, age 94, peacefully passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023, at home with loved ones at her side.

She was born on March 28, 1928, in Troy NY, the daughter of the late Fredrick Daus and Margrette (Dunkerley) Daus. 

Shirley worked at the Samaritan Hospital in the dietary department.

She enjoyed traveling, reading a good book, hearing a good song and dancing to it. Shirley was a member of the Red Hat Society for three years.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas Armstrong, Wesley Armstrong (Joanne) and Fredrick Armstrong (Maryellen); daughters, Randy Akstull and Judith Smith (James); brother, Bryan Daus (Debbie); sisters, Marilyn Ferguson, Diane Mastranni, Valerie Carlino and Teddie Kalbsicsh; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, E. Joseph Armstrong Sr. (Joe), sons, Warren Armstrong and Ernest Armstrong and daughter Barbara Jean Armstrong.

A funeral service will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, March 24, 2023, at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave (Rte. 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, New York. Family and friends may call 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Memory Gardens Cemetery, 983 Watervliet Shaker Rd. Albany, NY 12205.
