Obituary
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Sherry Gail Dowen.
She passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones. Sherry was born to the late Adalor DeGrechie and Bessie Virgil of Schuylerville on September 19, 1942.
Sherry waitressed in the Clubhouse at the Harness Track for years and later worked in the customer service department at Hannaford in Saratoga Springs.
Sherry loved hanging out at Sweeney’s Restaurant in her hometown of Schuylerville- helping where she could and visiting with the customers. She lived for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she cherished with all her heart. She enjoyed shopping and going out with her dear friends Patti Ann, Joe, and Gloria. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves behind her son, Donald Dowen Jr. and wife Tammy of Corinth; two daughters, Renee Brower and husband James of Gansevoort and Deborah Dowen of Gansevoort, eight grandchildren, Amanda Bergin (Edward), Courtney Lloyd (Amanda) Brittany Lloyd, Kevin Lloyd Jr., Codie Dowen (Jennifer), Dustyn Dowen (Kayla), Donald Dowen III, and Isaiah Dowen; three great-grandchildren, Sweeney and Eddie Bergin, and Emma; sister in law Kathy DeGrechie, and several nieces and nephews.
Sherry is preceded in death by her beloved husband Donald E. Dowen, Sr and her brother Keith DeGrechie.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.
