Sheldon Virgil Scribner, Jr., 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5th, 2025, at Saratoga Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 7, 1932, in Charleston, Maine, he was the son of the late Sheldon Virgil Scribner, Sr., and Mildred Doore Scribner. He graduated in class of 1952 from Foxcroft Academy, Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. He graduated in 1956 from Husson College in Bangor, Maine. Sheldon dedicated 33 years of his career to his Federal Government positions and responsibilities, spending time auditing government contracts with IBM in Owego NY, and spent a couple years in Pittsfield Mass before settling in Clifton Park working as Chief Auditor at Knolls Atomic Power lab in Niskayuna. He also did work for the “Admiral Rick Over’s program”, and it was one of his favorite jobs during his career. Sheldon retired in 1988 at the age of 56. After retiring from his government career of 33 years, he spent a few years as a Real Estate agent for Realty USA in Clifton Park NY., He was a member of the local Lions club in Clifton Park, and spent time as treasurer for St Peter's Lutheran Church in Malta NY
Over the years Sheldon enjoyed golfing with his brother-in-law Harry, and laughing at jokes told at family gatherings. He enjoyed vacationing in Hampton Beach NH with his family and visiting his sisters and relatives in Maine for summer vacations at his sister’s camp on Sebec Lake.
Sheldon is survived by his sons , Stephan Scribner (Lynne Scribner), Brian Scribner (Kim Fortune); grandchildren, Sasha Scribner, Ryan Scribner (Taylor Provost); sister, Rachel Pingree and brother-in-law, John Pingree of Dover Foxcroft; nephew, Michael Pingree of Portland Maine and niece, Margie Burnett of Colorado Springs, Co
He is preceded in death by wife, Martha Scribner, grandson Benjamin Scribner, grandson Nickolas Scribner, sister Elizabeth Scribner, and niece Julie Pingree.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services at this time.
