Shawn B. Nolan, age 42, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on January 31, 1984, in Saratoga Springs, New York, Shawn was the beloved son of James Nolan and Noreen Walker Nolan. He was a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School and went on to attend Stony Brook University where he was a member of AEPi (Alpha Epsilon Pie).
Shawn found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished time spent with his niece and nephews, who held a very special place in his heart. Whether watching episodes of Puffin Rock, playing Minecraft or reading Don’t Tickle the Pig over and over with them. Shawn’s love for his family was evident in all he did. He personally enjoyed reading, family puzzles, winning Jeopardy, and ornithology. A devoted sports fan, Shawn especially enjoyed cheering on his favorite Boston College teams.
Shawn worked as a Postal Carrier in the Middle Grove area, where he became a friendly face to the community he served. Known for his reliability and kind spirit, he took great pride in the connections he made along his route (including Rainbow Ricky).
Above all, Shawn will be remembered for his simplicity, gentleness, kindness, quiet strength, untraditional approach to life, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving parents, James and Noreen Nolan; his brothers, Chad Nolan (Kristina Pfeifer) and Shane Nolan (Kasey MacPherson); his sister, Ashleigh Nolan Strom (Brett); his cherished nieces and nephews, Cyrus Nolan, Audie Strom, Lochlan Nolan, and soon to be niece and nephew; as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday, March 29, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. prior to the 4 p.m. funeral service, which both will be held at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
