Sharon Rich, 74, passed away unexpectedly on October 21, 2025, while in Aruba-her favorite place in the world. She had vacationed there annually for over 20 years, forming cherished memories and lifelong friendships.
Born on November 5, 1950, in Saratoga Springs, NY, Sharon was the daughter of Margaret (Marge) and William (Bill) Quinn Sr. The family moved to Saugerties, NY in the early 1960s, where Sharon graduated from Saugerties High School in 1968. She began her career immediately after graduation at MetLife Insurance Company in Kingston, NY.
She later transferred to the Saratoga Springs branch to begin her life with her first husband, Genaro (Jerry) Lambert. Together, they welcomed their son, Jeffrey Genaro Lambert, in 1986. Sharon remained with MetLife for nearly 30 years before continuing her career at State Farm Insurance in Ballston Spa, NY.
In the late 1990s, Sharon met John (Jack) Rich. They married in 2002, following Jack's successful heart transplant. Sharon transferred with State Farm to Charlottesville, Virginia in 2014, where she eventually retired. Never one to sit still, she later worked part-time at Kohl's in Waynesboro, VA, where she thrived among coworkers and customers-especially enjoying the employee discounts.
In 2023, Sharon and Jack returned to Saratoga Springs to be closer to family. They treasured time with loved ones, frequently visiting Jack's daughter Renee (Hough) Larmour and grandchildren Kendall and Graham in Kentucky; Johna Rich and grandson Max Fogarty in Saratoga Springs; and Jeffrey and Michelle Lambert's children, Genaro and Gianna, in Maryland. Aruba remained a beloved destination, where they vacationed each fall with dear friends.
For the past year, Jeffrey and his family had moved back to New York to help care for Sharon. During that time, she became lovingly known as "Grammie" to Genaro and "Mimi" to Gianna, and the bond they shared blossomed beautifully. Jeff and his mom also reconnected deeply after years of less frequent contact following his enlistment in the military in January 2007. Just one week before her final trip to Aruba, Sharon spent four joyful days with Jeff and her grandchildren, who showered her with affection and attention-leaving her heart full and overwhelmed with joy. She then enjoyed two peaceful days in the warm Aruban sun. Sharon was truly happy at the end; she was not lonely, and she did not suffer. Jeff wanted everyone to know this.
Sharon was known for her warmth, humor, and ability to make friends wherever she went. She loved entertaining, decorating her home for every season, and shopping for the perfect touch. Her passion for baseball began while watching Jeff play growing up, and she remained a devoted Yankees fan.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jack Rich in March 2025; her parents, Bill and Marge Quinn; her brothers William Jr. (Paul) Quinn, Terry Quinn, and Steve Kazsek; and her sisters Kelly Pratt and Barbara Oliver.
She is survived by her son Jeffrey (Michelle) Lambert; stepdaughters Renee Larmour and Johna Rich; grandchildren Kendall, Graham, Max, Genaro, and Gianna; her sister Donna (Jay) Marcellus of Gansevoort; her cherished cat Gabby; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
