Sarah Elizabeth Cowieson, age 43, passed away March 9, 2021 at Saratoga Hospital, following a courageous six-year battle with Melanoma. Sarah was born on March 11th, 1977 in Troy, NY the daughter of Thomas Edward Cowieson and Cheryl Christopher McCall.
Sarah was a graduate of Shaker High School in Latham, NY and Massachusetts Bay Community College, where she earned her nursing degree in 2000. After completing her degree, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA for five years before returning to Saratoga Springs, NY to continue her passion of working in healthcare.
In the Fall of 2009 she welcomed her daughter, Olivia Cameron-Mary Cowieson. Olivia was Sarah’s pride and joy, and the reason she kept fighting to live through multiple rounds of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and surgical procedures.
Sarah would like to be remembered for her kindness, for showing up even in her worst of times, and for giving second chances. Sarah will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and bright blue eyes. Sarah lovingly shared her days raising her daughter Olivia whom she ‘loved to the moon and back’ along with Olivia’s father Todd Lloyd, her companion and ardent caregiver.
Sarah’s beautiful smile and laughter will be shared in memory by her daughter Olivia Cowieson; mother Cheryl McCall (Bruce); father Thomas Cowieson (Su); sister Christine Cowieson; brothers Aaron Cowieson (Sheila) and Cameron McCall; father of her daughter Todd Lloyd and his son Todd Dylan Lloyd; their extended families; Sarah’s many friends and her comfort dog Murphy. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the Physicians, Surgeons, Nurses and Staff at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City, Albany Medical Center, and Saratoga Hospital. A special thanks to Dr. Edward Liebers, Dr. Timothy Reed, Jean VanAuken P.A., Saratoga Community Hospice and Reverend Nick TeBordo.
