Sandra M. Ganzevoort

Sandra M. Ganzevoort (Pelzer), age 58, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at her home in Providence.

She was born on March 10, 1964 in Saint Catherine’s, Canada, the daughter of Elizabeth Carroll and the late Michael Ganzevoort.

Sandra was a Police Officer with Hamilton-Wentworth Police Department in Ontario, Canada, an officer at Skidmore College Campus Safety, a dispatcher for the Saratoga Springs Fire Department, New York State Park Police, Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department and then became a Police Officer for the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department. Sandra continued her education attending Siena College and became a licensed Master Social Worker from Adelphi University, Long Island.  Sandra was also a Clinical Mental Health Social Worker in Gloversville Family Counseling and at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy. She formerly ran Nostalgic Impressions where she loved taking pictures of nature, animals, birds, and flowers which she sold at craft shows.

Her love and kindness were infused in everything she did, whether she was helping those in need to forever loving her son, Michael.  She had a magical way of bringing joy every time she walked into a room. She embraced everyone she met with a warm smile, and she was a beacon of light to so many.  Her greatest joy was her gardens and the many birds that they attracted.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Richard Pelzer; mother, Elizabeth Carroll; son, Michael Pelzer of Guatamala; sisters, Shelley Claus (Gary), Michelle Stevens (Brett); nieces, Jacqlyn Venendaal, Britney Claus; nephews, Joel Venendaal, Trevor Claus; stepdaughter, Meredith Saltsman (Lyman); grandson, Clayton Saltsman; step-nieces, Amy Baker, (John Smith) of Voorheesville, NY; Betsy Martineau (Lance) of Delanson, NY and many friends who will miss her gracious spirit.

Family and friends may call from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY.

A private burial will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 150 West Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
