Roy Scott "Cowboy" Underwood

Roy Scott "Cowboy" Underwood, 67, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, at Saratoga Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on February 3, 1959, in Peekskill, New York, Roy was the son of the late Howard R. Underwood Sr. and Sally Taylor Underwood.

Roy was employed by the New York Racing Association (NYRA) for many years before enjoying his well-earned retirement. He found great joy in fishing, golfing, talking with friends on his CB radio, and racing mini drag cars. Roy was known for his kind heart, sense of humor, and the many friendships he made throughout his life.

Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Michele Carbone Schneider Underwood of Ballston Spa; his sons, Michael S. Schneider, John P. Schneider (Jen), and Aaron S. Earley; his daughter, Crystal Gibbs; his twin brother, Howard R. Underwood Jr. (Dorothy); his nieces and nephews, Patricia Kellerhouse (David), Melissa Murray (Scott), Richard Kellerhouse, Christina Kellerhouse (Tom), Maggie Allen (Scott), Russell Underwood (Gabriel), and Steven Underwood (Tierra). He also leaves behind several cherished grandchildren and beloved fur grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Roy was predeceased by his sister, Linda Kellerhouse.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of A3 at Saratoga Hospital for the exceptional care they provided. A special thank you is extended to Infectious Disease Physician Assistant Kristen Williford for her kindness and dedication.

A Celebration of Roy's Life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 12:00 noon at the Middle Grove Fire House.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Roy's memory to Saratoga County Animal Hospital.
