Robert Nils Pommerer, born to Ada and Robert Pommerer in Prattsville New York in 1935, passed away Friday August 21, 2026. The youngest of four children, Bob graduated from Gilboa Central School, attended RPI for college and enlisted in the Navy.  After the navy, Bob started his career as an engineer at General Electric, a job he held until his retirement in 1995.

Bob met Linda in 1965 and the two were married a year later.  They settled in Glenville, New York where they raised their 3 children. 

Bob was very active in his children’s lives.  He was always teaching, mentoring not only his own children, but the neighborhood children as well.  He was known as the neighborhood bike repairman, savior of those who climbed a tree and couldn’t get down and caregiver of the menagerie of family pets.

In addition to work and family life, Bob was dedicated to a lifetime of volunteerism.   He served in various church roles, Rotary Club and his children’s activities.  During his life Bob enjoyed many sports, starting with basketball and baseball in high school.  As an adult he participated in tennis, ice hockey, bowling, sailing and skiing.  Bob was never one to stay idle.  He was constantly puttering around the house, yard and cars.  He rarely sat still except to watch tennis on TV.

The family enjoyed many activities together.  A favorite was camping where Bob was usually stationed at the Coleman stove cooking our meals.  Camping with other families was great fun.

Post retirement, Bob and Linda traveled extensively through volunteerism, Rotary or Elder hostels.  Favorites include New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa. 

When grandchildren arrived, Bob and Linda loved doting on them.

Those who knew him will remember him for his kindness, curiosity, caring and his unassuming nature. 

Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda Pommerer and his three children Eric (Mary) Pommerer, Katie (Marty) Breen, Stephanie (Ashwin) Joshi, sisters-in-law, Susan Bailey, Carol Reightler, five grandchildren, Leah and Charles Pommerer, Ryan Breen, Meera and Parker Joshi, many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, three sisters, Charlotte Boardman, Catherine Marcus, and Roberta Berenzy.

Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church, 175 Fifth Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. A funeral service will immediately follow at the church, officiated by Pastor Glen Flannagan.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
