Finally at peace, Robert J. Aragona (Bob) - 82 of Porter Corners, NY passed away December 19, 2021, with family by his side at Wesley Nursing home in Saratoga Springs after succumbing to a long illness.
Born November 11, 1939 in Schenectady NY, he was the son of the late Vince and Mary (Ippoliti) Aragona. He was predeceased by his wife Peggy "Pat" (Thomas) Aragona and is survived by 8 children Earl (Lisa) Aragona, Ronald (Susan) Aragona, Linda (Tom) Long, Mary (Ray) Varrone, Tim (Linda) Aragona, Vince (Denise) Aragona, Tina Pethick (Jeff) and, Steve (Jennifer) Aragona and several grand and great grandchildren. He is also survived by a Sister Ann Trier (Mike) and was predeceased by one brother, Patsy Aragona.
He was raised in Schenectady NY and enlisted in the United States Navy on November 14, 1956 where he was a boilerman on the U.S.S. Boston. He and pat were the original owners of Trout Out Inn and the Tri-Point Trout Hatchery in Rotterdam NY, and thereafter, he spent much of his career as a Truck Driver.
After retirement he, Pat and their dog Pookie (commonly referred to as our little sister) spent the best years of their lives as snowbirds, living winters in Avon Park, Florida and summers in Gloversville NY.
Anyone who knew Bob can tell you he was a very stubborn man, he lived his life on a schedule, planning everything from when and what he would eat, to what time he would go to bed. He died, just as he lived, doing things his way. Dad, we hope you have reunited with mom, grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Pat, and are sure you are up there having coffee with Uncle Charlie.
At his request, there will be no formal calling hours or service, but family and close friends are invited to join us for a gathering at Clinton’s Ditch on Sunday, January 9th at 1 P.M. The family is respectfully requesting that only vaccinated people attend.
