Saratoga Springs – Richard Wilhelm, Sr., 81, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 20, 1944, in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Philip and Veronica (Mayette) Wilhelm. Richard was raised in Saratoga Springs and graduated from SSHS, Class of ’62. He raised a family as a construction and steel worker. Later, he moved to Florida, where he worked as a carpenter for the city of Naples, before settling into retirement. He embraced the Florida lifestyle, often found relaxing on his lanai with his dog Harley and a cold Yuengling. Richard always made time to return to New York to visit family and friends.
Richard had a passion for antique hot rods, he enjoyed going to car shows and showing his beloved 1934 Chevy.
He is survived by his sons, Richard Wilhelm, Jr. (Rebecca) and Jeffrey Wilhelm; his daughter, Jennifer Ettrich (Kevin); his partner of 40 years, Milli Macy and her daughter, Elizabeth Macy (Paul Gleasman); his brother, Arthur Wilhelm; and his cherished grandchildren, Sarah and Alex Ettrich.
Calling hours will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Avenue, Saratoga Springs. A short prayer service will be held immediately afterward at 8:00 p.m.
A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Greenridge Cemetery, 17 Greenridge Place, Saratoga Springs.
