Phyllis M. Dumont passed away peacefully on August 12, 2023 at Washington Center in Argyle, NY, after a day filled with visits from her family. She was 88 and had been a resident in the Memory Care unit for the last two and a half years.
Phyllis worked for Bolster Studios and at the Van Raalte Knitting Mill in her younger days. She enjoyed bowling, quilting, cooking, baking and Card Club with the Girls every month. She taught ceramics for many years, first in her home and later at the Wilton Senior Center. She made and sold many different crafts at local craft fairs. When dementia robbed her of her memory and talent for these things, she developed a love of coloring at Washington Center, and shared her finished pictures with everyone she met.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Debra and William Crandall , son and daughter-in-law William and Shirley Dumont; grandchildren, Nichole Dumont, William, Jr and Teyanna Dumont, Miranda Meader and her fiancé Lenny Mosher, Kelly Crandall and her fiancé Robert Barlin; great-grandchildren, Derek and Isabella Dumont and Maci and Zander Meader; her brothers, Robert Barber and his wife Julie, and Richard Barber and his wife Mary, brother-in-Law and sister-in-law, David and Thelma Dumont and numerous nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was pre-deceased by her husband of 63 years and the love of her life, Howard Dumont, an infant daughter, her parents, Melton and Dora Barber and her brother Percy Barber and his wife Beatrice (Sue).
The family would like to thank the staff at Washington Center for their kind and compassionate care during her residence there. We don't know what we would have done without them!
