Patricia Radigan Obituary

Mom, Patricia Ann Radigan, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends at the Home of the Good Shepherd.

Mom was born on April 6, 1937, in Utica, NY, to Leslie and Margaret (Firsching) Gaughran.

During her early years in Utica, Mom attended Catholic school, and particularly enjoyed long Sunday drives with her Father.    As a teenager, Mom would often go roller-skating, which is where she met and fell in love with her future husband, Roger.   Mom and Dad were married in 1958, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Utica.  Shortly after marriage, Mom stopped working as a telephone switchboard operator to focus on raising her sons in the house that was her childhood home on Wesley Ave.

After moving to Wilton, Mom went back to work as a bank teller.   Throughout her career Mom loved meeting and talking with bank customers, many of whom would wait in line just to talk with Mom.   While at the bank, teller bonuses were given when the customers were greeted by name.   Shortly afterwards though they had to be discontinued because Mom knew everyone’s name.

Mom’s dogs were a special part of her life.   She enjoyed taking the dogs for car rides and walks around the neighborhood and at camp in Piseco.   She loved spending summertime at camp, getting together with friends and neighbors to play cards, walking and spending time around a campfire.   Mom made lifelong friends wherever she went.  Mom loved music, especially Johnny Cash, and went square dancing weekly for many years.  She loved to twirl and sashay around the dance floor.

Family was at the core of Mom’s heart.  She loved and appreciated each of us for who we are.   It didn’t matter where we were, or what we were doing, spending time together always made her happy.   Phyllis and Kris were two treasured friends.   They spent countless hours together, walking their dogs, sharing coffee and meals, and celebrating the passing years with many laughs.

Mom spent the last years of her life at the Home of the Good Shepherd in Wilton.  From the beginning, the staff and residents made Mom part of their family.  They opened their hearts to Mom and touched all of ours.  Our family extends our heartfelt gratitude to all the people at the Good Shepherd.  Thank you for being a source of love, comfort, strength and security to Mom and to our whole family.

Mom’s heart was loving, kind, gracious and thankful.  She tried to connect with every person she met.  Even in the discomfort of her final days on earth, she thought about others and was grateful for even the smallest of gestures.  She was a blessing to, and blessed by, all the people and animals whose lives she crossed.

Mom is survived by her loving sons, Paul Radigan (Tracey) and Kevin Radigan (Nancy) and her cherished grandson, Nick and his fiancee Emma, and her many dear friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte. 9), Saratoga Springs, N.Y.  Family and friends are invited to calling hours beginning at 11am and a short service at 1pm.    A graveside service will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 150 West Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY.
