Patricia A. Petel

Patricia A. Petel, aged 79, peacefully passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023, after displaying remarkable courage in her battle against leukemia and liver disease.

Born on November 30, 1943, in Saratoga Springs, NY, Patricia was the cherished child of Charles Herbert Eckstrom and Edythe Eckstrom (Tyrell). She proudly graduated from Saratoga Springs Jr./Sr. High School in 1961.  Following graduation, Patricia started her career as a legal secretary working for many prominent law firms in Saratoga Springs.  Patricia dedicated 16 years of her life as the Deputy Chief Clerk of Warren County Surrogate's Court, retiring, December 30, 2003.

Throughout her life, Patricia was an active member of various organizations, including the Legal Secretaries Organization in Saratoga and Warren Counties. She also enjoyed being a part of the Redhatter and Attitude Adjustment (Happy Hour Friday) groups. Patricia was a devoted member of Bethesda Episcopal Church and actively participated in the prayer shawl group. Her interests included playing Scrabble, camping, going on cruises, spending time at the beach, visiting casinos, and enjoying her vacations in Florida.

Patricia is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, William A. Petel, her children Beth Cusson (Mark) of Fort Ann, New York, and son William M. Petel (Darcey) of Saratoga Springs, New York. She also leaves behind her adored grandsons, Matthew Cusson and Benjamin Cusson, as well as her sister, Beverly Smith (Michael) of Saratoga Springs, New York, and sister-in-law Carol Herbert (Larry) of Upper Michigan. Patricia's memory will be cherished by several cousins, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends who will forever miss her gracious spirit.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional nurses, Geri, Lisa, Diane, and Geri from hospice, who provided loving care. They also express their appreciation to the Wilton emergency squad for their professional and compassionate assistance.

A funeral service in Patricia's honor will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Compassionate Funeral Care, located at 402 Maple Avenue (Route 9 and Marion Avenue), Saratoga Springs, New York. Family and friends may gather to pay their respects from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, New York 12871.
