The beloved Patricia Mary Ernst, age 77, passed away on Monday, November 6th, 2023 at Saratoga Hospital surrounded by her family.
Patricia was born on April 21st 1946 in Saratoga Springs, NY. The daughter of the late Herman Garant and Bessie Sherman Garant. The eldest daughter of two, Patricia had a natural strength and courage within, which remained till the very end. A true nurturer by nature, her love for all was rich and flowing.
Forever a gracious host, her door was always open to anyone seeking good conversation and a great cup of coffee. She took delight in entertaining friends and family with a proper home cooked meal made from love. No matter the occasion or holiday, Patricia was always ready to entertain with a true eye for detail. Christmas was a huge holiday in the Ernst house with the entire home decorated impeccably by Patty. She expressed her love through cooking for her people, and feeding those she cared for was her love language. Not only was her cooking as phenomenal as it sounds, so was her taste in style and fashion. A true style icon, adorned in sparkling jewels, she was always glistening while dressed her best. With a glowing smile beaming from ear to ear, her energy and aura were hard to ignore. Patricia's infectious laughter was always music to everyone's ears. Those who were lucky enough to enjoy Patricia's love knew just how special she really was. Patricia worked as a waitress for well over 30 years in the same establishment, Compton’s! Waiting tables and serving her regulars made her a true staple to the Saratoga community. Along the way she made lifelong friendships that endured decades.
Without fail, she remained a devoted wife to her late husband, Amos, for 38 loving years. In high spirits, the inseparable pair are now reunited in arms once again. A true storybook romance, the two love birds traveled and dined across the globe. As snowbirds do, the duo flew the coup to their residence in Florida to avoid New York's harsh winters. Amos swept Patricia off her feet right from the start and their journey still has not ended.
Aside from being the hostess with the mostest, the beautiful Patricia had several past times she enjoyed. Patricia was always on the prowl for a good bargain! Perusing through thrift stores and antique shops was one of her happy places. This hobby was usually accompanied by a dear friend or cherished family member, making the hunt all the more special. A well-deserved lunch came next as shopping would always work up quite the appetite. Cooking was always an adventure for Patty, especially once Pinterest got involved. She thoroughly enjoyed browsing hundreds of new recipes to whip up and share. Another notable pastime would definitely be people watching, particularly on Broadway. The ultimate spot to hang was parking right out front of Uncommon Grounds with her other half, Amos, watching the many shapes and faces as they passed by. Patricia was quite the bookworm, always diving into a new romance or mystery novel almost daily. In recent years, a deep-rooted love for watching late night wrestling bloomed; always cheering on her favorites. Patty believed she lived a blessed life holding all of her beautiful memories near and dear. There will never be another person that could ever fill the light she brought to this world. We all love and miss you.
Patricia is survived by her children, Gary Lenz (Theresa), Stacy Vrooman, John Amos Ernst (Mary); grandchildren, Gary Lenz III, Dakota Lenz (Ciara), Kaylie Thornhill (Brian); sister, Barbara Mattrazzo; cousin, Joyce Joubert; brother-in-law, Larry Ernst; sisters-in-law, Betty Cleveland, Rena Dyke; three beautiful great grandchildren; alongside many friends who will miss her warmth dearly.
