Pamela W. Barone

Pamela W. Barone, a woman of immeasurable heart, considerable opinions and humor, and a very good story for nearly everything, died peacefully on September 16, 2026, at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy, New York. She was 88.

Pamela lived in Douglaston and Port Washington, New York; Hampden and Bangor, Maine; and Ballston Spa, New York. She loved the great state of Maine with the devotion usually reserved for first loves and particularly good dogs. She loved the Atlantic Ocean in every possible configuration—on it, in it, beside it, and preferably with a boat involved. She sailed, collected seashells, and was always happy to discuss the virtues of scallops and lobster.

She is survived by her brother James Weatherill and her children, Karen Barone and Frank Barone and his wife, Dixie. Her sisters, Patricia Hall and Joyce Guttroff, and her daughter, Nancy Barone, predeceased her. Pamela leaves four grandchildren—Heather Hults, Crystal Hults, Kasey Noga, and Charles Barone-Shaw—and two great-granddaughters, Zariah Zeldes and Kayla Cerda Swing. She was also a great-great-grandmother to twins Charlie and Georgie Swing, and was beloved by her many nieces and nephews.

She would want us to find joy and laughter in her memory. Or perhaps she would simply suggest that we all go to Maine, get on a boat, and have some lobster.

We should probably do that.
