Norman F. Atherton

Norman F. Atherton, age 66, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Saratoga Hospital.

He was born on September 13, 1959, in Saratoga Springs, NY, the son of the late Henry Atherton and Margaret Irish Rockwood Atherton.

Norman was a man who embraced life with a sense of adventure and a love for the simple things. He had a special fondness for theme parks, where his playful spirit truly shined, and he found peace and pride in gardening and landscaping. No matter his age, Norman was always a kid at heart. He loved video games and was also a big racing fan.

He dedicated many years of service to Saratoga Golf & Polo and Schuylerville Pizza and Pasta before finding his home at Vermont Inn Pizza in Brattleboro, Vermont. There, he spent years working hard in the family business, becoming a familiar and valued presence until his retirement.

Above all else, Norman’s greatest joy was his family. He was a proud and loving father to Desiree Diamadis, Danielle Lewis, and Dillian Lewis, and a devoted grandfather to Vasiliki, Jordan, and Greyson. His love for them was the center of his world and the legacy he leaves behind. He never missed a single game, practice or extra curricular activity. 

Time spent with family—especially his grandchildren—meant everything to him and brought him immense joy.

He is survived by his unofficial sister, Shari Lynn Suarez; his children, Desiree Diamadis, Danielle Lewis, and Dillian Lewis; his sister, Elaine Norton; and several grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Wilbur and Elwood, and his sisters, Mary, Waneta, Louise, Charlene, and Mary.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Route 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY.  Family and friends may call from 2:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
