Norma Carson

Norma Carson, 93, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024 with her family by her side.

She was born February 6,1931 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.  She was the daughter of Lowell and Grace Garrison.

Norma graduated from the Halifax Academy in Nova Scotia in 1948.  She was employed by Canadian Immigration until moving to Schenectady, NY in December of 1950.

Employed at Industrial Bank of Schenectady until her marriage.

Norma was a homemaker while her children were growing up and then employed by Burnt Hills – Ballston Lake School District for 20 Years. Avid bridge player and reader. Played tennis, loved to swim, sail, canoe, kayak, ski and hike, including many of the Adirondack Mountains.

Norma is predeceased by her husband Robert L Carson who she married on March 13, 1954, a brother Peter Garrison, sisters Jean Higgins, Leah Munro, Betty DeLong, Anna MacLean, Ruth Guthrie, Grace Langille and Lillian Blades

She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Mushroe (Michael) of Spring Lake, Michigan and sons Eric (Kathleen) of Saratoga Springs and David (Diane) of Mahopac, NY; seven grandchildren, Kathleen O’Brien (Daniel), Robert Mushroe (Adam), Thomas Mushroe, Jenna Hiltz (Alan), Michael Carson (Melissa), Brian Carson (Sheila) and Chelsea Carson.  Six great grandchildren, Liam and Lily O’Brien, Hailey and Conor Hiltz and Tyler and Emilia Carson; a brother Michael Garrison of Tucson, Arizona and many nieces and nephews.   

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Calvary Episcopal Church, 85 Lake Hill Rd, Burnt Hills, NY 12027. 

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871 following the church service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Norma’s memory may be made to Calvary Episcopal Church, 85 Lake Hill Road, Burnt Hills, NY 12027.
