Milly G. Wechgelaer

Milly G. Wechgelaer, age 103, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Wesley Health Care Center with her loving family by her side.

Born on January 18, 1923, in White Plains, New York, Milly was the cherished daughter of the late William Bormann and Gertrude Mueller Bormann.

A proud member of the Greatest Generation, Milly honorably served her country in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. Following her military service, she devoted herself to creating a warm and loving home for her family as a homemaker. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she faithfully served her church as an organist for many years. Music was one of her greatest passions. Whether playing the organ or the piano, she found joy in sharing her gift with others. Her love for music led her to complete two years of study at Julliard School of Music, where she further developed her lifelong talent.

She leaves behind her beloved children, John Wechgelaer (Lynn), Tim Wechgelaer (Sonde), Peter Wechgelaer, and Janette Schaffer; her brother-in-law, Martin Wechgelaer (Anne); her cherished grandchildren, Brianne, Greg, Anna, Emma, Rachel, Jake, and Christian; four great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever remember her gracious spirit and loving heart.

In addition to her parents, Milly was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Wechgelaer; her sister, Betty Whitefield; and her brother, William Bormann.

Family and friends are invited to gather from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Avenue, Saratoga Springs, New York. A funeral service celebrating Milly's remarkable life will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Interment, with military honors, will be held at 2:00 p.m. at White Plains Rural Cemetery, 167 North Broadway, White Plains, New York 10603 following the service. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are kindly asked to meet at the cemetery's main gate located at 167 North Broadway, where they will be escorted in procession to the gravesite.
