Mary Ann Hannon, age 82 passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Saratoga Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born on May 24, 1941 in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of the late Alfred T. Deere and Helen Mader Deere.
Mary Ann was a Bookkeeper for Gaffney’s Restaurant for many years. With a heart full of passion, Mary Ann immersed herself in various activities that brought her joy. She found solace boating and vacationing at the beach. She created a home where everyone was welcome whether it be unexpected visits from friends or scheduled family gatherings. Mary Ann loved her family fiercely. Very few things were more important to her than being a mother and grandma. She loved to get all dolled up and entertain her girlfriends in track season; hats were her favorite.
Mary Ann was a very classy lady; she always knew how to dress for the occasion, her personal style was elegant and timeless. She was a stunningly beautiful woman admired by many. Mary Ann loved cocktail hour and dinner with her friends, coworkers, or daughter at Gaffney's Restaurant. She could always one up you with a drink or a joke. Everyone knew her by her nickname "Vivacious Viv", her smile and vivacious personality would light up a room. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She loved decorating and wrapping gorgeous presents for her friends and family. She enjoyed many years at her weekend home in Lake Placid with her children and boyfriend Ed of 30 years and she kept a beautiful home and worked hard to provide for her family. Mary Ann cherished and loved her wonderful neighbors across the street for 48 years. She was the caregiver for her aunt and boyfriend which kept her on her toes in her later years.
Mary Ann is survived by her son, Paul Hannon (Jennifer); daughter, Ann Marie Hannon; grandson, Jacob Hannon, many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her son, John Hannon; brother, Ronald Deere and sister, Karyn Knapik.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Calling hours will be held from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home with Father Martin Fisher officiating.
