Mary Colbert Obituary

In cherished memory of Mary Alisa Colbert, who peacefully departed from this world on October 14, 2023, surrounded by her loving family within the comfort of her home. Mary, born in Coats, North Carolina, 88 years ago, was a woman of exceptional kindness, generosity, and love for others. Her life was a testament to selflessness.

Mary's passions included painting figurines, observing the playful antics of birds and chipmunks in her yard, and nursing injured animals back to health. She had a special affection for her two beloved pets, Nippy and Ruby, who will undoubtedly feel her absence deeply. Mary was not only a remarkable southern lady but also a culinary artist, known for her mouthwatering fried chicken and dumplings, a treat cherished by all who had the privilege of savoring them.

Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Paul J. Colbert, and her loving children: Karen Colbert, John Blackmon (Lori), Brenda Dawson, Linda LaPoint (Ricky), Kathy Ebert (Bill), Donna Kesslar (Bob), and Ralph Colbert; sister-in-law Louise Vaughan. Her legacy continues through nineteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and the many friends whose lives she touched with her warmth and compassion.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Coy Vaughan and Lily Williams; son, Paul Michael Colbert; brother, Billy Vaughan who she loved dearly.

In accordance with the family's wishes, a private service will be held to honor Mary's memory. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to pay tribute to Mary can make donations in her memory to Community Hospice at 179 Lawrence St, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Mary's legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
