Martha E. (Clark) Morris

Martha E. (Clark) Morris, age 98, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, at the Wesley Health Care Community in Saratoga Springs, NY.

She was born in Amsterdam, NY on October 17,1923, the daughter of the late Samuel and Lydia Salmi Clark of Galway.

After graduating from Galway High School in 1940 as class salutatorian, she worked as bookkeeper at the GLF grain and feed store in Galway for 10 years. She married Charles J. Morris of Ballston Spa in 1949. They raised two daughters at their home near East Galway.

Widowed in 1978 she moved to Saratoga Springs where she greeted the community as a pharmacy clerk at Fay’s and Eckerd drug stores on Ballston Ave for over twenty years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Saratoga Springs serving several terms as president of the Ruth Circle.  She enjoyed taking walks, listening to music, reading library books, watching Yankees games, feeding the birds, and especially the routines of taking care of her home and family. 

Martha is predeceased by her husband, “Chuck” and her daughter, Ruth S. Theilemann.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary E. Turcich of Saratoga Springs, NY; two grandsons, Timothy M. Turcich of Orlando, FL and Daniel J. Turcich of Saratoga Springs, NY; one granddaughter, Megan E. Lavoie of Saratoga Springs, NY and many friends.

A service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte. 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY. Family and friends may call from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.  

A graveside service will be at Galway Village Cemetery, 5349 Sacandaga Rd. Galway, NY 12074 following the service at the funeral home.
