Margaret “Peggy” Abbondandolo, 86, passed away on September 8, 2024 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.
Peggy was born and raised in Roslyn, New York to her parents, Henry and Gertrude Jones. She married her high school sweetheart, Melvin Abbondandolo, and relocated to Wilton, NY where she raised her two children.
Peggy’s love in life was her family and her United Methodist Church community. She loved spending time with both and was always an eager volunteer at church events, especially singing in the church choir. She was always ready for adventures with her husband, her children and grandchildren. After raising her children, she worked as an audio-visual librarian for the United Methodist Troy Conference where she was given the Denman Evangelism Award. Peggy’s gift in life was to help others, to spread joy, love and laughter to those she met.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Melvin Abbondandolo, her son, David, her daughter Pam (Richard) Cirincione, and grandchildren, Tyler and Kelsey Cirincione. She also leaves behind her sister, Barbara Frislid, as well several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Martha Chytalo and her husband John, brothers-in-law, Riggi Abbondandolo, his wife, Pat, Thoral Frislid, his son, Thoral, and sister-in-law Marguerite Haynes and her husband, William.
Calling hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church, 174 5th Ave., Saratoga Springs with a celebration of life to follow at 11a.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Peggy’s honor to the Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church, 175 5th Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
