Margaret Ann Beers

Margaret (Margo) Ann Beers (nee Burrell), 88, of Wilton NY, passed away on June 18, 2025 surrounded by family and friends. She was born on May 10, 1937, in Auburn, NY.

She is preceded in death by her late husband Charles Beers and her parents; Charles and Lillis Burrell.

Margaret is survived by her son David Beers and his wife Leslie, granddaughter Lydia, her two sisters Marji and Nancy, and long-term friend and 'adopted son' Joe Ely.

She was born in Auburn, NY, but grew-up in Skaneateles with her father, mother, and two sisters Marjorie (Marji) Dickinson and Nancy Brass.

Margaret attended Skaneateles High School and took special interest in Nursing. She Graduated with an Associate’s Degree at Alfred University and received a RN degree from Syracuse General Hospital. Following graduation, she worked as a traveling Red Cross nurse, and then as a School Nurse. Margo was proud to be very active in the early Women’s Rights Movement and a strong supporter of Civil Rights. Later in life she was a nurse at Dr. Charles Richman Pediatric Office and she went on to become the Treasurer for the Presbyterian and Congregational Church and retired after 20 years. Her interests were embroidery, quilting, cooking, crafts, chocolate, coffee, reading and pottery. 

Margo married Charles Elliot Beers in 1969 and lived in Wilton, NY, for over 60 years. She was a devoted mother to David Elliot Beers and later a cherished grandmother to Lydia Beers.

Margo will be missed dearly by her family and many friends. 

Her Memorial service will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 5 pm at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY. Services will be officiated by Reverend Jay Eckman.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Saratoga Hospital, for excellent care, in lieu of flowers.
