Major Adams of Lark St., Hudson Falls, NY, a lifelong Saratoga Springs resident, died unexpectedly Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born on April 9, 1956, in Saratoga Springs, NY, he was the son of Vivian Rue and Major L. Adams Sr. Major attended Saratoga Springs High School and joined the Army Reserves from 1974-1976. He worked many cooking jobs all over Saratoga. He went to work for the City of Saratoga Springs DPW, where he retired from.
Major enjoyed so many things like fishing with his good friend Whitt, his brother Mike & Pauly, he enjoyed shooting pool with his grandkids and his favorite words to them were “You can’t beat the best!”. He enjoyed his long hours of conversations with his lifelong best friend Napoleon (Nappy). He loved his camping trips with BBQs, campfires and all the storytelling. He was very passionate about the Saratoga Drum Corps; he used to play drums & horn and followed it everywhere it was locally. Above all, he enjoyed his time with his daughter Nicole. His song for her was “Isn’t She Lovely” the day she was born. They would watch TV shows (B+W) together for hours as he told her many stories about his younger life. They’d cook together, do scratch-offs together and spend a lot of time at the Racino and shooting pool. A lot of Father-Daughter love.
Besides his mother and father, Vivian Rue and Major Adams, he was predeceased by his son Major L. Adams of Saratoga Springs and his brothers Dr. Virgil Paul Cruz of Amsterdam, Holland, Carl M. Adams of California, Arlan Gray of Albany, James Rue of Saratoga Springs and Stephan Rue of Saratoga Springs, his sister Carol Adams of Saratoga Springs and his nephew Jason Adams of Cambridge.
Survivors are his two daughters Nicole Cruz Reyes (Andy) of Hudson Falls and Natasha Adams Brown (Bill) of Albany, his two brothers Mike Adams of Saratoga Springs, Paul W. Adams of Cambridge, and Bill Rue (Carol) of Menands, and two sisters one being Pauline Adams Grimes (Peter) of Cambridge whom after 45 years was reunited and spent lots of time conversating on the phone and at family gatherings. The other sister is Mary Beth Adams Berry of Cincinnati, Ohio and Uncle Julius of Key West, Florida. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and a few great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Along with a few special people he spent time with are Napoleon Bloomer, Jose Cruz, Whitt, Chris Dufney, Pauly Vogt, Chuckie, Wally and Donna and these are just a few of the people he loved so much.
