Leroy Ketchum Obituary

Leroy R. Ketchum, age 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Wilton on Friday, September 27, 2024 with his family by his side.

Born on June 6, 1934, in Glens Falls, NY, Leroy was the son of the late Roy and Helen (Coyle) Ketchum. He dedicated many years as a foreman at Finch Pruyn before retiring.  After retiring, Leroy continued his seasonal job at Disney during the winter months in Florida for fifteen years. He also traveled extensively to many other states after purchasing his RV. A proud veteran, Leroy served his country honorably in the US Navy as CB.

Leroy embraced life with enthusiasm. An avid reader, he also enjoyed camping and was a passionate horse racing fan, eventually becoming a harness driver. A longtime NASCAR fan, Dale Earnhardt was his favorite driver.

Leroy leaves behind his son, Bryan Ketchum (Dorothy), and daughter, Kristine Merchant (Larry). He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Jones; grandchildren, Charles Lauren Merchant (Makayla Cardinal), Lindsey Merchant (Dan Salmonson), Stuart Ketchum, Samantha Mitchell, great-grandchildren, Gerry Salmonson, Charles Liam Merchant, sister-in-law, Daisy Ketchum and a host of friends who will deeply miss him.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Bernice Booth, Ruth Price and a brother, Warren Ketchum.
