Leroy E. Card, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a man of many talents, passed away on January 19, 2024, at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was 80 years old.
Leroy was born on January 23, 1943, in Colonie, NY, to his parents Leroy and Edna (Henderson) Card. He grew up with a passion for life and a curiosity that led him to become a true jack of all trades.
Leroy dedicated 35 years of his life to Sealy Mattress/Sterns and Foster, where he displayed his exceptional work ethic and commitment. Beyond his career, he had a deep love for the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes, where he found solace in the beauty of nature. Leroy was also known for his enthusiasm for country line dancing, and his nimble feet were a sight to behold on the dance floor.
His love for building things was a testament to his craftsmanship, and his skills were admired by many. In addition to his professional and recreational pursuits, Leroy was a dedicated Boy Scout Troopleader, imparting valuable life lessons to the young scouts under his guidance.
Leroy leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Card, with whom he shared a lifetime of happiness. He is also survived by his daughters Krystal Overton, Kimberly Cervone, and Deborah Bell, as well as his sons Thomas Card (Marilyn), Roy Card, and Robert Card (Laura); son-in-law Israel Gonzalez; Leroy's brothers, John Card and George Card, and his sisters, Louise Destantis and Diane Pelletier, remember him fondly.
Leroy was a proud grandfather to granddaughters Breanna Gonzalez, Mecenzie Gonzalez, Evenlee Gonzalez, and Sara Gonzalez. In addition to these cherished grandchildren, he was blessed with five additional grandchildren, Elyse Card, Robert Card, Jason Card, Kacie Card, and Thomas Card. His nine great-grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy, and he leaves behind a niece Sheila Destantis and additional nieces and nephews who will always remember their uncle with great affection.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Leroy's life on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The gathering will take place at Compassionate Funeral Care, located at 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
Leroy E. Card will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of love, laughter, and craftsmanship will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.
