Kenneth R. Schunk, age 68, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Saratoga Hospital, surrounded by the love and presence of his family.
Born on July 2, 1957 in Michigan, Kenneth was the son of Roy Schunk and Irsel Schroeder Schunk.
Kenneth was a graduate of Whitmore Lake High School, class of 1975. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy mostly aboard the USS Flasher, from 1977-1986, a time in his life he held in great honor and forged friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Following his military service, Kenneth utilized his background in electrical engineering to start his company Upstate Automation in the Saratoga area, where he was known for his knowledge, precision, and strong work ethic. He took great pride in his profession and the contributions he made over the years.
In his personal life, Kenneth found joy in baseball (a devoted Tigers fan); boating and fishing. His greatest inner peace came from time at the beach with family.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. His true happiness came from time spent with those he loved. His presence, wisdom, sense of humor, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 42 years Martha, sons Vincent (Alicia) and their daughter, Violet; and Neil (Karen) and their sons, Hunter and Logan. His sister, Mary Phinney and her two daughters; brother, Jeffrey Schunk; and stepmother Barbara Hutton.
He is predeceased by his parents: Roy and Irsel Schroeder.
