Kathleen E. Johnson, 79, of Saratoga Springs, passed away on Saturday November 19, 2022, at Albany Medical Center.
Daughter of the late Donald and Norma McQuade, Kathy was born on December 4, 1942, in Windsor, Connecticut.
She managed NFT Travel for many years, allowing her to explore and see the world as she had always dreamed to do.
When Kathy wasn’t spending time creating memories and traditions with her loved ones, you would often see her volunteering in the community that she so loved, including SPAC, Saratoga Hospital, and many different chapters of the American Cancer Society. She was even honored for volunteering 4,137 hours at the hospital gift shop, where she greeted everyone with a warm smile and a welcoming spirit.
A 5-time cancer survivor, Kathy lived life to the fullest and truly appreciated every moment of every day. She was the most engaged listener you could ever meet, and the kind of person who made you better just for knowing her. Her zest for life was contagious and her laugh was infectious. Simply put: she was the best.
Kathleen is survived by her son Douglas J. Johnson of Lake Wales, FL; daughter, Lynnor Clausen of Saratoga Springs, NY; Lynnor’s Daughter, Katrina, Son-in-law, Nathan Biss, and 5 grandchildren, Raeanna, Paetyn, Jace, Adalynn and Harlee of Saratoga Springs, NY; Kathy’s bonus daughter, Marci Vrooman and her 3 children, Angelina, Sophia and EJ of Louisville, KY; and brother Donald McQuade who resides in Connecticut.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Commander Douglas John Johnson Sr., her partner of 32 years Vene Vrooman, and her sister Norma Merritt.
