Joyce Wetherington

Joyce Wetherington, aged 82, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Mary’s Haven.

Born on July 3, 1942, in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Aken and Helene Christopher Aken.

Joyce dedicated many years as a caregiver for the Saratoga County Social Services and Wesley Nursing Home, where her compassion and care deeply touched the lives of her clients. In her free time, she found joy in fishing and auto racing.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Eugene (Gene) Wetherington; her sons, Randy Allen (Elvia), Tony Allen (Lisa), Eugene Wetherington (Debbie), Adam Tranka (Beth); her daughter, Kim Hughes (Gary); her sister-in-law, Terri Jo Ballou; grandsons, Shane Wetherington, Charlie Tranka, Steven Allen, Randy Allen, Joshua Allen; granddaughters, Stefany Allen, Victoria Saccomagno, Amanda McDonald, Emily Allen, Raelynn Tranka, Kaitlyn Allen; numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and friends who will dearly miss her gracious spirit.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Edwin Aken; and her sisters, Blanche Edwards and Linda LaChance.

Per the family’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or service at this time.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Mary’s Haven for their compassionate care during Joyce’s time with them.
