Joseph C. Rowny

Joseph C Rowny, 74, of Ballston Spa, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Joe was born on October 18, 1950 to the late Benedict and Irene (Popielarczyk) Rowny. He attended Mohonasen Schools and Saint Francis College in Pennsylvania.

He was employed at SI Group for 38 years in various managerial positions. He retired in 2012.

Joe loved to golf, winter in Florida, and fish and camp in the Adirondacks. He truly loved spending time around a campfire and early morning fishing in his boat on Sacandaga Lake at Moffit’s beach, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “Poppy”.

Joe will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sally (Maloy) Rowny, his children Stacy (Ed) Vega, Jennifer (Jason) Rodrigue and Joseph (Emily) Rowny Jr. Grandchildren Lukas, Evan, Avery, Olive, Nora and Katie. His sister Marilyn Vitch, brother Mark (Kathy) Rowny, brother-in-law Howard (the late Meredith) Maloy, sister-in-law Judy (the late Daniel) Sutch and several nieces and nephews.

Our special thanks to The Community Hospice, especially Teresa, Kelly and Heather for their unwavering support, compassion and wonderful care given to Joe for the past five months.
