Joseph McCormick Obituary

GREENWICH - Joseph T. McCormick (Crow) 79 of Easton NY "flew the coup to join another flock in a peaceful place" from his home " The Crow's Nest" on 8/13 after a long battle with several serious illnesses.

Born February 4, 1939 in Cambridge NY to the late Martin & Blanche (Currier) McCormick, he was one of eight children.

Joseph attended Greenwich Central School and Modern Welding school in Schenectady. He was employed in several area papermills for many years, Dyer & sons, Pleasant Valley Infirmary, handyman odd jobs and lastly, before retirement this past October, the Fort Miller Company, Inc., his most enjoyed employer where he considered his coworkers family especially Brandon, Bill & Jack. Joe was a very generous man; his generosity often came with terms you would later learn about. He enjoyed work and more work, his chickens, gardening, hunting and fishing and visiting with family and friends.

Left to cherish his legendary stories & memories are his daughter, Yvette and Gerry (Yogi) Grimes; two grandchildren, Kathryn Grimes of Easton NY and Gerad Grimes (Lauren Griffin) of Malta NY, Jo Jo, Taz, & Stripers; his cats, and his many chickens; brother, Martin(Helen) McCormick of Scotia NY and Mary Barrett  of Albany NY; several nieces & nephews and the only girl he ever loved Yvonne (Bonnie) his former spouse and his genuine friends Craig (Freddy), Gary & George Spiezio and David (Max) McQuade.

In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his sisters; Catherine Saunders and Blanche (Tootsie) Lewis, his brothers; John McCormick, James (Jim) McCormick and Richard (Dick) McCormick.

To honor Joe's request there will be no services.  " If they couldn’t come to see me when I was alive they don't need to come see me when I'm dead" generosity with terms.

At the families request there will be a celebration of life gathering at a later date for family and friends.

Memorial donations can made to the Middle Fall Fire Department, one of your choice or a benefit ticket to help someone in need.  Let the generosity live on.
