Jordan Klapp Obituary

Klapp, Jordan Greenfield Center. Heaven gained an angel Tuesday morning when Jordan Frederick Klapp, 24. a son, a brother, a friend, and an inspiration to everyone he met joined his beloved brother. On April 13, 2021, Jordan passed peacefully in his sleep in his home surrounded by those he loved and who loved him.

Jordan was born November 19, 1996 in Saratoga Springs, NY to Paul and Gwen Klapp. At age two, he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. By age 11 he was off his feet and using a power wheelchair. Despite this overwhelming obstacle, he was never defined by his wheelchair or his disease. Jordan enjoyed NASCAR, and was a huge Jeff Gordon fan. Upon receiving a Make-a-Wish, his dream came true and Jordan was able to attend a race and meet Jeff Gordon. Racing was not the only sport he loved, he and his brother David enjoyed watching the NJ Devils and NY Jets. He was also an avid gamer. Jordan spent his summers camping and boating on Lake George with his family. The Double H Ranch provided many opportunities for fun and adventure. He attended summer programs, as well as winter ski programs and later in life, he and his service dog Patriot would volunteer.

Jordan had a quick wit, and kept his family laughing for the many years he was here with us. He was loved by many and made an impact on everyone he met. During his school years, Jordan had what could only be referred to as a great posse of friends that surrounded him. Despite what he lost physically, he never complained about his situation. Jordan persevered no matter the circumstances, it’s what he was known for in High School.  He always found a way to accomplish his goals. Jordan graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 2015 and still holds the pacer record at Greenfield Elementary.

He was grateful for all the blessings of his community; the addition to our home, dinners to help pay for wheelchairs, a vehicle when he needed it, and the fundraising to help him obtain a robotic arm.  Jordan was a recipient of the South High Marathon Dance which allowed him to get his beloved service dog, Patriot.

He was predeceased by his brother Matthew (19) in 2008, his grandparents Frederick and Lois Klapp, and grandfather Eliot Smith. Survivors include his parents Paul and Gwen (Holbrook) Klapp, and his brother David, his grandmother Elaine Holbrook Smith, several aunts, uncles, cousins, his personal assistants whom he loved and his beloved dog Patriot.

The family would like to thank all those who donated and assisted Jordan in his life, we are forever grateful.
