John H. Duffney

John H. Duffney (Jack), aged 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on October 13, 1945, in Saratoga Springs, New York, Jack was the son of the late Russell and Evelyn Duffney.

Jack spent many years working in the construction industry, where he earned the respect of his coworkers through his dedication, reliability, and unwavering work ethic. Most recently, he was employed by North American Industrial Services in the Ballston Spa area. Jack believed in the value of an honest day's work and rarely sat still. Beyond his career, he found joy in landscaping, caring for his garden, and lending a helping hand to others.   

Jack enjoyed hunting and in recent years riding his side-by-side with his close friends. Nearly every day, he made a trip to the Glad Rag Saloon (Sam’s), affectionately known as “the office”. Where he enjoyed a cocktail, good conversation, and laughter with close friends. Those simple moments, shared with people he cared about, brought him great happiness.  

Above all else, Jack was a devoted family man. His family was the center of his world, and he worked tirelessly for them. He treasured family gatherings, celebrated life's milestones with pride, and found his greatest joy in watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow. His quiet strength, generous heart, willingness to lend a helping hand, and steadfast love for his family will be remembered always.

Jack leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory, including his daughters, Polly Wilson, Jacqueline Barnes (Chester), Wendy Avila (Matthew) and Terrie Barnes (Steve); his brother, Nathan Duffney (Alice); his niece and nephews, John Duffney, Elizabeth Kilmer, Michael and Scott Duffney; his beloved grandchildren, Nicholas Barnes, Janelle Phillips, Spencer Wilson, Parker Wilson (Julie), Austin Wilson (Kelsey), Clayton Wilson, Tucker Wilson (Grace), Mateo Avila, and Arianna Avila; four treasured great-grandchildren; his faithful canine companion, Lily; and many extended family members, neighbors, and friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

In addition to his parents, Jack was reunited in death with his beloved wife, Gilberte Duffney; his cherished companion, Bernice Barron; and his brother, Terry Duffney.

Though Jack’s hands have been laid down to rest, the legacy of his hard work, and his unwavering devotion to his family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His kindness, quiet wisdom, and the countless memories he created will never be forgotten.

There will be no calling hours, only a graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Greenfield Cemetery, 88 Wilton Road, Greenfield Center, NY 12833.

Following there will be a Celebration of Life at the Glad Rag Saloon at 29 Holmes Road, Porter Corners, NY 12859.
