John E. Richmond, 81, of Greenfield Center, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020.
He was born in Saratoga Springs on July 1, 1939. John served in the United States coast guard and married the love of his life, Marlene (Plasay) Richmond on July 4, 1965.
John worked many years at Saratoga Harness track and retired from Skidmore College. He was an avid Nascar fan. John loved to read, watch movies, and enjoy a good meal. He especially loved visiting local car shows with his wife. He was a spiritual man and long-time member of St. Clements Catholic church. John was his family’s greater protector and provider and will be greatly missed.
John is survived by his loving wife Marlene (Plasay) Richmond; their three children Michelle (Charlie) Bielkiewicz, John J. Richmond, Tammy (Larry Jr.) Ramsey, Thomas Bayer and one sister, Mary Ann Zwijacz; His grandchildren, Casey Delaurie (JJ), Bradford Bayer (Miranda), Elizabeth (Chris) Pitts, Justin (Sarah), Matthew (Shannon), Alicia Ramsey, Lucas Delaurie; great-grandchildren, Ava, Katalina, Brycen, Brodey, Matthew Jr., and Bradford, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur, and Ann Katherine (Rougier) Richmond, his in laws Mark and Elizabeth Plasay as well as his brother in law Theodore Zwijacz.
There will be no calling hours scheduled at this time. The family will arrange a memorial at a later date. A special thank you to Johns youngest daughter, Tammy Ramsey, for her care and devotion to her father in his later years.
