John Maurizi Obituary

John L. Maurizi, age 88, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026 in the comfort of his home in Wilton.  He was born on January 2, 1938 in Passaic, NJ, the son of John Maurizi and Mae LaBue

John’s life was defined by his deep devotion to family and his unwavering commitment to being a loving father and a proud grandfather. Over the years, he made his home in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey; Wiscasset, Maine; and Wilton, New York, each place marking a meaningful chapter in a life well lived.

In his younger years, John embraced life with a spirit of adventure, a trait that remained with him throughout his life. For more than 40 years, he shared that spirit with his beloved wife, Carol, as they traveled together and built a cherished collection of art and antiques, each piece holding a story and memory from their journeys.

John spent many years managing real estate properties, where he was known not only for his dedication and skill but also for the genuine relationships he formed with his tenants, many of whom became friends. He also took great pride in building and designing home additions, finding joy and fulfillment in creating spaces that would be lived in and loved.

Some of John’s happiest moments were spent in the kitchen cooking alongside his grandson, Conor, sharing laughter, lessons, and treasured time together while living in the home of his daughter, Susan, where his bright spirit and gentle presence were a blessing to all.

John is survived by his five children: Louis Maurizi of Congers, NY; Laura (Maurizi) Paray and her husband, Paul Paray, of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ; Monica (Maurizi) Littler of Essex, CT; Joan Maurizi of Yelm, WA; and Susan (Maurizi) Mulvey and her husband, Bill Mulvey, of Wilton, NY. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Nicolas Paray (fiancé Audrey Reynolds), Adam Paray, Devin Paray, Charlie Littler, Kelly Littler, and Conor Mulvey; and by his siblings, Mary (Maurizi) Ferraoli and Barbara (Maurizi) Whelan.

John was predeceased by his wife, Carol Lillian Maurizi; his sister, Charlotte; and his brother, Louis.

A Funeral Mass in John’s honor will be held on January 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Luke’s Church, 340 Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ 07423.
