John Brusko Obituary

John Brusko, age 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 1st, 2025, at Prince William Medical Center, with local family by his side.

John was born on April 5, 1946 in Bronx, NY, son of the late John Brusko and Ann Jakubec.

John married the light and love of his life, Arleen Krasiker, on June 16, 1968, at St. Luke's Church, Putnam Valley New York.

Arleen preceded John in death, after they enjoyed nearly 53 years of marriage and devotion to family. 

John graduated from The Bronx High School of Science, Bronx, NY. He also graduated from Dutchess Community College, Poughkeepsie, NY with a degree in Architecture. John later independently studied for, and became a licensed Professional Engineer (PE), with a focus in civil engineering.

John worked early in his career for Peckham Industries, Brewster, NY. After attaining his PE license, and throughout his career, John made invaluable engineering contributions to a host of public and private sector projects and employers. John took pride in serving as Highway Superintendent for three New York State Counties, Putnam, Essex and Orange.

John enjoyed his career as a PE, but he also had many passionate hobbies and creative outlets. He was a member of an American Revolutionary War reenactment group, that appeared on the Today Show. John was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing. John also loved vacationing in Maine with family. He loved carpentry and could build anything with a hammer and nails. John was a proud member of the Wilton Rod and Gun Club, Wilton, NY, where he so enjoyed all forms of shooting, and the camaraderie of its members.

John is survived by his daughter, Lisa Disbrow (Chris); grandchildren, Justin Gardner (Kelly), and Kayla Disbrow; brothers Paul Brusko (Maurine), and Gene Brusko; sister-in-law Alyce Furfaro (Jimmy); niece, Sarah Yi (John); nephews, Andrew Brusko (Boryana), and Andrew Furfaro (Susan); as well as many friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave, Saratoga Springs, New York.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025 in Greenfield Cemetery, 88 Wilton Rd, Greenfield Center, NY 12833.
