Jerry Grolley, Jr.

Jerry Grolley, Jr., aged 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 3, 1935, in Saratoga Springs, NY, to the late Jerry Grolley, Sr. and Mary Bishop Grolley.

Jerry was a proud graduate of Saratoga Springs High School, class of 1955. Renowned for his basketball skills, he was a celebrated figure in the community and was honored with induction into the Saratoga Springs High School Hall of Fame. His youthful days were filled with fond memories of Convention Hall. Beyond sports, Jerry was a talented musician, enchanting audiences with his performances at numerous nightclubs and weddings. However, his greatest joy was found in the loving embrace of his family.

Prior to retirement, Jerry served as a dedicated Department Head of transportation and grounds at Skidmore College for many years.

Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, Roberta Grolley, with whom he shared 67 years of cherished companionship; his daughter, Sandra Murnan (Michael); his son, Robert Grolley (Elizabeth); his grandson, William Murnan; his granddaughter, Ashley Grolley; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will deeply miss his presence.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Compassionate Funeral Care, located at 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Following the service, a graveside ceremony with military honors will take place at 2:00 p.m. in St. Peter’s Cemetery, 150 West Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
