Janet Marie Aldinger Obituary

Janet Marie Aldinger, born on December 15, 1933, entered into eternal rest just ten days shy of her 92nd birthday. She was born in Amsterdam, New York, to her loving parents George and Lillian Argersinger. Janet often reminisced about her childhood adventures, roller skating up and down the hills of Amsterdam and proudly marching as a drum majorette, memories she cherished her entire life.

On October 18, 1953, Janet married the love of her life, William Aldinger, Sr. Together they built a beautiful life and raised three children: Carol, Cathy, and Bill Jr. Janet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth filled every room she entered. She was especially known for her famous cookies and her open-door hospitality, family never left her home without a meal, a treat, or a bit of comfort.

A woman of many talents, Janet was an exceptional seamstress who created everything from dresses and cowboy shirts to Halloween costumes and doll clothes. She also had a deep love for music, playing both guitar and piano, and lent her voice to church choirs throughout her life. Faith remained an important part of her journey, and she was active in several churches over the years.

Janet lived an active and joyful life. She played tennis for many years before taking up golf, a hobby she enjoyed sharing with Bill. She also loved skiing, long walks with her beloved dogs, and spending summers camping throughout New York and New England. One of her greatest joys was their camp on Sacandaga Lake, where countless family memories were made. For a time, she and Bill also enjoyed wintering in Florida as snowbirds.

Professionally, Janet worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for the Schenectady School District, a role she carried out with dedication and pride.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, William Aldinger, Sr., who passed in 2020; and by her sisters, Carol and Kathryn.

Janet is survived by her loving family, who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts: Children: Carol (John) Heermance; Cathy (Brian) Vosburgh; and William (Stephanie) Aldinger, Jr.; Grandchildren: Matt (Lisa) Ives, David (Allison) Ives, Stephen (Becky) Ives, Jennifer (Josh) Lloyd, Jeff Aldinger, Tally Thrace, Bailey Ovitt, and Emily Ovitt; Great-grandchildren: Rowan and Caleb Ives, Molly and Gabe Ives, Gwen and Gavin Lloyd; Sister: Laura Alice (Jim) Hillman, Ezra, Ella and Eden; Nephew: Jim (Deb) Hillman, Jr.
