James "Bob" Sanders

James “Bob” Sanders, age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 31, 2021 at his home with his wife by his side.

He was born on September 20, 1929 in Schuylerville, NY, son of the late Katherine Sanders.

Bob was born and raised on the family farm.  He was one of the founding members of the Quaker Springs Fire Department.  He loved to help his hometown community whether it was with the farm or serving the community.

Bob worked at Finch Paper in Glens Falls, New York as a mill worker, prior to retiring and spending more time with his friends and family.  Bob and his wife Sally were members of the Saratoga Eagles club for 20 years and have held numerous roles in the club over the years. 

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Sarah Sanders; son, Wallace Whalen; daughters, Karen Ann LaPlant, Sandra Sanders, Mary Schempp, Donna Jean Sanders; brothers-in-law, Richard Travis and Arthur Travis; sister-in-law, Rose Travis; five grandchildren, John and Lauren Schempp, and Stephanie, Michelle and Bernie Laplant, many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss his gentle smile and warm hello’s. 

He is preceded in death by his son, Peter James Sanders.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY with Father Martin Fisher officiating.  Family and friends may call from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will be held following the service at Maplewood Cemetery, Saratoga Springs, NY.
