James Ovitt, age 83, peacefully passed away on Friday, Sept 27, 2024, at The Glens Falls Center, after a long battle with Dementia.
Born on May 1, 1941, in the Town of Day, NY, James was the son of the late Abe W Ovitt Sr, and Anna Scoville Ovitt.
James had many jobs over the years including many paper mills, Ellsworth Ice cream and his longest stint at Stewarts in which he retired from. He especially enjoyed his travels on cruises, trips to Branson, MO, a trip across the whole country and yearly trips to Maine. James was always willing to lend a hand (or tool) and was a true people person who cherished his Family and Friends. He had a passion to make people smile and laugh right up to the very end.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Sandra Ovitt; his son, Scott Ovitt; his brothers, John J. Ovitt (Margaret), Roger Ovitt (Sue) Larry Allen, Wallace Allen; his sisters Kathy Allen (Dan), Mary Jane Bovee and Jackie Howe; along with many nieces, nephews, brother and sister in laws and friends who will fondly remember his humble and kind spirit.
James was predeceased by his parents, Abe W. Ovitt, Sr., and Anna Ovitt (Scoville), as well as his 15 siblings: Ethel, Elsie, Thurland, Betty, Frank, Frederick, Jeffery, Harvey, John, Dorothy, Oscar, Abe Jr., Margaret, Donald, and Richard.
Calling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery, corner of Weibel Ave. and Louden Road, Saratoga Springs, NY following the calling hours.
The Family would like to thank all the people at the Glens Falls Center for Rehab, for all the Love and Joy they brought into his last few months during his stay there.
