James J. Hennessey was born June 24, 1947 and lost his two - year painful struggle to the terrible disease of cancer October 15, 2021 . During his last days at the hospital he never lost hope and was upbeat always talking about the “love of his life” his wife Gail Hall and his other love “ his 1981 Corvette”. He provided many laughs and hope for his Doctors and Wonderful Nurses.
Jim is survived by the “love of his life” his wife Gail, his Step Son Neil Hall who he enjoyed giving advice to in his last days and always had fun discussing many topics and going on picnics and trips with him and his family. Our Grandbaby Kenneth Hall (Mr. K) is Jim’s survivor and great love. They loved to lovingly banter back and forth about who was right and wrong as Mr. K would call out “oh Poppy you are so wrong” as they burst out laughing. Jim was survived by his sons Brandon and Bryan Hennessey, His Brother and Sister- in law Fred and Joyce Albert, Sister and Brother- In law Joan and Bruce Agard, and Brothers- In law Steve and Ernie Liddle. He was also survived by many Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
Jim had loved to Bicycle with Gail throughout the area and many of the states they traveled. He also loved the century rides (100 mile rides) they rode together in groups. Jim and Gail did much hiking such as the Adirondack peaks, Oregon, Colorado, Vermont and more. White water rafting was a blast which encouraged Jim to take up Kayaking which he enjoyed with Gail on many area lakes and rivers including Oregon.
Jim loved his job and loved to tell everyone all about what he did. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 55 years holding many titles and position in those years. He was quick to say he didn’t know anything about the actual mail as people were always asking him where their mail was. I met Jim during the course of both of our jobs where his position was Environmental. He was helping to coordinate Environmentally friendly products for the postal service to use in their cleaning and printing processes. He had recently been promoted this past July to Division Emergency Management Specialist. He was responsible for coordinating emergency teams in making sure the Postal divisions could continue to run and deliver the mail during hurricanes and other emergency situations.
September 19, 2021 The United States Postal Service Awarded Jim the Service Award with a Commemorative Coin in Recognition of fifty-five years of federal service. This is a milestone very few receive. Jim was able to see this and know that he achieved this before he left us.
Jim is pain-free now and loved by many. His very special Medical Angel (Doctor), was Jean once he entered the hospital. Jean was especially compassionate, caring and truthful. Jim, said this is what he had wanted all along. The Saratoga Hospital Nurses assigned to Jim were also compassionate and so caring as well. Jim and I couldn’t have been treated better.
